Our Story:

 

Hi! I'm Serena, mama of Ezekiel aka "Zeek". 

Zeek is 10 years old and lives with moderate-severe Autism and is non-verbal. We're from San Jose,CA.

I had Ezekiel when I was just turning 19 years old. He was diagnosed at 24 months with Autism. At almost 5 years old, he was diagnosed with a more severe form of non-verbal Autism. I had no idea what our journey would look like and the past 10 years we have overcome, grown, and conquered all of the challenges in our way together.

As a single mom, student, working a full-time job, and caring for Zeek, it was challenging to find time to make any of my dreams happen. I had a dream and vision to share a glimpse of our story with the world and this year, it was tugging at my heart to manifest and make it happen.

I am passionate about advocating and fighting for Zeek to have a voice in this world. This book has been a dream of mine for the past 2 years and I am overjoyed and beyond excited to share it with you. I was inspired to create a short and simple story based on our real life experiences when visiting parks and other public places together. We get stared at a lot and many children have questions when meeting Zeek.

It is my hope and dream to reach and touch hundreds of people with our story. I hope parents/caregivers/teachers/therapists/siblings/uncles/aunts... EVERYONE can use this book as a tool to teach the children in their lives a lesson on understanding and befriending those with Autism and disabilities.

Our journey is not easy and we have many challenging and difficult days, but I wanted to use our struggle and share our story in a positive light to the world and inspire others. Our story says, "we're here and we matter." 

Our book is finalizing and I am getting ready to publish it by May 2022. It will be available on Amazon. (My vision is for also e-book vision for kindle, and multiple language versions including Spanish and Chinese.)
